Spiritual Preparedness
We expect each master’s student to have a passionate desire to see the heart and face of Jesus Christ. As every applicant is required to submit a pastoral reference, it must be evident that the applicant has that desire and fire in their heart and soul to do the will of God and to submit to His plan. For an individual to be considered, it must be obvious to their pastoral leadership that they have accepted Christ into their heart and are seeking to make Him Lord of their lives. Applicants are to be at least 18 years old or a graduate from high school.
Because we also want to make this year a Jesus-first year, there will be no dating allowed. In order for disciples to receive all that God has for them, there must be high degree of focus, and a willingness to give to the Lord whatever He asks. We ask students to look to the Lord for all their relational, social, and emotional needs.
Commitment
In order to make the best use of this opportunity, applicants must make their commitment to Master’s Commission their highest priority. This means that, because of our busy schedule, you cannot commit to other jobs, ministries, etc... Furthermore, you must be prepared to focus on becoming a disciple of Christ in whatever walk of life you are called to. Master’s Commission will consume your entire year as you will be involved in nearly every ministry First Church has to offer.
Finances
Upon acceptance there is a $300 nonrefundable deposit due on or before September 1st. If our office receives this deposit before April 30th you will be given a $200 discount on tuition. Depending upon when you send in your deposit, your remaining tuition would be due on the first day of Master’s Commission. The program fee includes tuition, retreats, seminars, administrative costs, ministry trips, etc... The applicant must also have sufficient funds for personal expenses, it is suggested that they have approximately $80 to $100 per month to cover gas and other personal items. Also, there are financial options and plans available to students. For more information on our financial options please call our office.
Vehicle
Because we are always on the move, and are not always able to transport students to all our outreaches and ministries, we strongly recommend each student to have their own car. It is vitally important that they have insurance and a reliable car that can take the wear and tear for the year.
Health Insurance
The church does not cover basic health insurance for the students. If you are not covered by health insurance, then we have some inexpensive emergency insurance plans that are covered in the tuition costs. However, this insurance plan will only cover emergency situations. We require students to have some kind of basic coverage or an insurance deposit paid at the beginning of the year. For more information on these health insurance plans, please contact our office.
Time
Because we strive to make the most of every opportunity, it is important that every student be on time. Each student invests time and money to have an opportunity for God to lay His foundation and to use them powerfully. In addition to this it is important that Jesus has the entirety of your time throughout your year in Master’s. Our schedule is rarely the same and always changing, so you will find it very difficult to make personal plans as often as you like.
Living Arrangements
Every student will be put into a host family under the discretion of the Master’s staff. As a guest in one of our church members’ home, we expect each student to leave an excellent impression with their host family. Because we are unable to pay our church members for this service, it is critical that each student is a blessing to that home.
